Originally this Jasper Johns was included in select issues of the May 2014 issue of Art in America. The print was commissioned on the occasion of the magazine's 100th Anniversary. The paper is a type of mylar that Jasper Johns has used repeatedly on many of his unique works on paper starting in the 1960’s. The print was published in an edition of unknown size and it is signed & dated "J Johns '13" in the stone lower right recto.

Produced with print publisher Bill Goldston of Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE) of Bay Shore, Long Island, this Jasper Johns print contains classic Jasper Johns imagery—the numbers 0-9, a map of the United States and the alphabet in American Sign Language.

Most recently another impression of this print was included in Jasper Johns Mind/Mirror, the 7 decade Jasper Johns retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, from September 29, 2021 - February 13, 2022.

According to Bill Goldston, publisher, ULAE, in  2013 Jasper Johns had an idea which was predicated on the size limitations of Art In America. Initially Jasper Johns thought the best thing would be to do a drawing on frosted Mylar, a process he’s familiar with. He gave me the image and I scanned it, converted that digital file to a digital print, and showed him a proof. He asked if it could be printed on different kinds of paper. A local offset printer I work with, Official Offset in Amityville, N.Y., provided me with samples. We discovered quite by accident that Jasper was working with an old magazine size, and the magazine is now larger. So he drew a line of numbers at the top to satisfy the difference in the proportions of the page. I scanned that and added it, so the image had three different layers: The first layer was the map and the Sign Language alphabet. Then there was the addition of the numbers across the top. Finally, he signed a small piece of Mylar and I dropped that into the file. It didn’t exist as a composed image in any other way than digital.”

Jasper Johns wanted the print to have a gatefold, similar to other Art In America prints taht were commissioned in the 1970’s. Jasper felt it was important to honor that aspect of the original prints inserted in Art in America.
