Valerie Jaudon is best known for her role in the Pattern and Decoration Movement of the mid-1970s. Valerie Jaudon's work evokes motifs and the embellishments of folk art, decorative arts, and non-Western traditions of abstraction. For Untitled, 1980, Jaudon uses symmetric compositions comprised of repetitive, patterned forms that span the entire surface. Jaudon's creative focus is an exploration of organized systems, using simple elements and minimal color to create visually complex imagery.
